A fourteen – member implementation of 2020 Population and Housing Census
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has inaugurated a fourteen – member implementation committee to supervise this years Population and Housing Census (PHC) at Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
The committee, which is craftily selected, has expertise from Statistics, Health and Civic Education. The rest are Census Officers, a representative from National Population Council, Development Planning Council, and the five Sub-Metro.
The Committee, among others, will recruit field officers and coordinate publicity within the metropolis.
Again, it will liaise with field operations to distribute logistics, and ensure community participation in the census.
Committee members are also tasked to identify possible areas for dispute and devise measures to resolve them.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Kumasi on Wednesday, February 12 2020, KMA Boss, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi charged the committee to work diligently as data collected by the enumerators is among vital elements considered, when distributing scare resources among the five sub-metro
KMA Mayor, who administered oaths of office and secrecy to committee members explained that his outfit will provide necessary support including finance to thrust the success of the census.
Regional Statistician, Kobina Abaka Ansah underscored the need for the committee to remain apolitical and further implored members to work devoid of political interest. He urged well meaning Ghanaians to participate in the census.
On his part, chairman of the committee, Kwadwo Akuoko pledged committees readiness to coordinate and implement all activities to achieve a successful Census.
