Ghana has been considered as football nation over the years now base on the successes the nation has benefited through football activities.
The game is perceived by many people as one of the components to ascertain unity in people.
Most of the youths have the passion and the talent to play it but financial constraints have always killed their potentials.
As a result, Lawyer Kwasi Amofa Agyemang, an indigene of Asokore in the Asante Bekwai Municipal of Ashanti Region is set to organize a football ‘gala’ competition for the locals.
The event is slated to commence on 24th of August this year.
Close to 34 teams each representing an electoral are expected to participate in the competition.
The teams will be seeded into 8 groups with each comprising of 4 teams. T
Teams that may qualify from preliminary group stage will proceed to the knockout stage.
The matches will be played at Abodom, Kokofu, Bekwai, Bogyawe, Adankragya, Anwiankwata, Poano and Dominase.
The Knockout will be hosted at Poano, Semi final stage at Abodom and the final will be held either Bekwai/Dominase.
All participating teams will be given a set of jerseys.
The ultimate winner will take home GHS 5000, first runner’s up Ghc3000 and second runner’s up Ghc2000.
The event coordinator, Mr Seth Amoako explained that the games will foster good relations amongst the towns.
It will discover and unearth the untapped budding football talents in the Municipal.
He added “there is going to be a free and fair officiating” from the class one referee at all the stages.
Security of participants and spectators is also assured.
