The Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of NDC, Mr. Mathew Kojo Njourkone has said it is a deliberate attempt by the NPP Government to killing jobs that offer employment to many Ghanaians in the banking and other sectors of the Ghana economy.
“….Collapsing our jobs and substituting it with the struggling NABCO is like taking our grass-cutters and giving us mice in exchange”, he stated.
The Deputy Secretary mentioned that the banks would have been in active business if incumbent government had not stopped the various business friendly policies the NDC introduced.
He alleged that the killing of these banks by the government was a deliberate act, otherwise “how could a government intentionally raise the minimum paid up capital of banks by 234% ; thus, from GHS120m to GHS400m while at the same time contractors who have huge shares in these banks have not been paid?, he queried.
He hinted that, Nana Addo’s government is base on nepotism and discrimination because it is rumoured that some banks are currently in business have not met the expected conditions yet they have been permited whilst others have been eliminated.
He lamented that, a government that came to power on a promise to create more jobs has ended up collapsing the few.
Mr Njourkone wandered why government collapsed 7 banks on GHC14 billion when that amount was what those banks needed to survive or meet the GHC 400M minimum paid up capital demanded by the government.” Is it not a better option to invest that amount in those banks and have a stake in their operations so as to save jobs and to also prevent other negative effects that might secure the jobs of the workers of those banks ?”. He asked
He maintained that “Nana Addo and his NPP is deceitful and must be voted out of power in 2020.
