Ashanti Region: COVID-19 Cases hit Three

Authorities of Ashanti Regional Health Directorate

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has confirmed two more cases on pandemic coronavirus.
The pandemic COVID-19 as of last week was only one in the region.

However, as of today March 20, 2020 two more cases have been confirmed by the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate(RHD).

At a press briefing in Kumasi, Dr Owusu Danso, Chief Executive officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital said, one the patients, a 61 old year resident of Kumasi with foreign root who has no travel history, experienced symptoms of the plague and reported it on March 18, 2020.

The patient was tested by Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR)- KNUST and the test proved positive.

The other patient is a 59 year old Ghanaian national who lives in the UK arrived in Ghana by British Airways on March 13 2020. The patient got to Kumasi on March 14.

“This patient complained of fever, cough and general feeling of being unwell. The patient reported the case and a sample was taken at the KCCR and it came out positive.” The statement of the CEO.

The duo (two patients) are currently doing well and are in isolation for seeking medical treatment.

So far Ghana has received 16 cases of the pandemic coronavirus and patients are in isolation for treatment.

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate Director, Mr Emmanuel Tenkorang has entreated people in the region to adhere to the various precautionary measures that have been outlined.
