The Ashanti Regional Police Command has deployed over 5,934 security personnel to take charge of District Assembly Elections which is taken effect tomorrow.

According to, the deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP David Agyemang Agyem, the Police, Fire service, Prison Service, Customs and the immigration have been deployed to the 47 constituencies in the Ashanti region ahead of the elections.
The dispatched security personnel are expected to report to their duty post latest by the close of today.

ACP Agyemang said at a press briefing that the elections happening tomorrow is going to be a test case or rehearsals for the security services in Ghana in the pending general election 2020.
For this reason it is the responsibility of the Ghana police service to maintain law and order and as well ensure the security of the electoral martials in the various voting centres tomorrow.

He warned that the police will drastically deal with persons who may defy all odds to disturb the elections. Therefore the general public and electorates must refrain from all manners of behaviours that would temper them to infringe upon the election process.

He advised the security to be circumspect in their operations.

They should desist from intimidating the electorates in their quest to exercising their franchise.
