One of the key challenges facing us in Ghana in terms of universal health coverage is not reaching the deprived communities with quality primary health care services.
For this case, Mr Dominic Senyo Yahesu, Assembly member for Torgodo electoral area in the north Tongu district of the Volta region has called on government of the Republic of Ghana to form mobile clinics to reach out underprivileged communities in the country.
“I’m calling on government and health care service related organizations to provide mobile clinics to represent a cost- effective care delivery model to improve health outcomes in vulnerable groups in communities” He said.
The assembly member further stated the Mobile health units on wheels can bring about real change by reaching the vulnerable and marginalized populations living in remote and difficult to reach areas as well as for communities that are cut off from mainstream services on accounts of hilly terrains floods prone areas.
According to him the country needs to cater for the health needs of the less privileged in alignment with sustainable development goals.
