Nananom of Atwima Nwabiagya North

Highly infuriated Chiefs of Atwima Nwabiagya North district in the Ashanti region have said they do not have a hand in Barekese Chief’s attack on the District Chief Executive of the area.

The Chief of Barekese (Barekesehene) Okofo Amoapem Brenya, his sub-chiefs and a group called concerned youth of Barekese earlier on last week stated at a presser that President Akufo-Addo should dismiss the District Chief Executive of Atwima Nwabiagya North, Madam Rebecca Yeboah.

According to them the DCE has exhibited gross insubordination against Nananom of Atwima Nwabiagya North, declaring that, “we can’t work with a disrespectful DCE,” therefore “she’s unfit to be at her post.”

Subsequently, the Nananom of Atwima Nwabiagya North led by Nana Boakye Agyemang (Otumfuo Twafuo) Gyaasehene who doubles as Asuofua Anwoma Gyaasihene, at a news conference held at Asuofua on Thursday, April 23, 2021, said they do not have hand in Barekesehene’s statement or fight against the DCE.

Nananom said apart from Barekesehene, the rest of the chiefs in about 38 communities of Atwima Nwabiagya North believe the DCE, Madam Rebecca Yeboah has never showed any disrespect to them and has performed well therefore deserve another term of office.

The chiefs emphatically stated that the Barekesehene has no right to disrespect the Madam Rebecca Yeboah since they fought hard in 2017 for her appointment as the DCE before he (Barekesehene, Okofo Amoapem Brenya) was installed as chief in 2019. Therefore he should shut up if he can no support them.

Nananom however, eulogized the DCE stating that “her achievements within two years in office are unprecedented.”

They observed that her achievement’s on security, education, health, social intervention among others are unparalleled.

For this reason President Akufo-Addo should re-appoint hard working Madam Rebecca Yeboah as DCE for the area to enable her continue her good and progressive works.

Meanwhile, executives of NPP in Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency have also thrown their support for the reapportionment of the DEC.

Mr. Evans Asante Boakye, Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency Communication Director of NPP at separate press conference at Barekese lorry park on Thursday April 23 2021 said all the allegations leveled against both DCE are baseless, malicious, frivolous and calculated attempt by the Barekesehene to tarnish the hard earned reputation of Madam Rebecca Yeboah.
