Asante Bekwai Constituents have celebrated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant, Lawyer Kwesi Amofa Agyemang’s football competition that was organized to foster peace and harmony between communities in the constituency.

The tournament which commenced on August 24 and ended September 1 this year saw 36 electoral areas in the constituency vie against each-othemselves from group stages to the grand finals.

The rationale behind the competition according to the philanthropist was to “parade peace and unity among constituents in the politically tensioned towns and villages in the area”.

The ultimate prize for the winner was GhC5, 000.

The communities were assembled into 8 groups with Ntinanko, Anwiankwanta, Kokoben and Nampasa who went to head-to-head and Nampasa and Kokoben qualifying to the finals.

At the end of the tournament, Anwiankwanta lone goal against Ntinanko took them to the 3rd place and thus wining a sum of GHS2000 prize money.

The final saw a very hefty game between Nampansa and Kokoben but in the long run Nampansa thrashes Kokoben on 4-2 on penalties shout- outs after 90 minutes of regulation time.

Nampansa took the essential prize of 5000 GHS hitherto Kokoben with 3000 GHS for placing second.

All 8 teams who qualified from the groups stages to quarter finals except the first 3 were given GHS500 consolation prizes in the novelty confederation. However, all participating teams of 36 electoral areas each were given a set of jerseys.

Lawyer Kwesi Amofa Agyemang, a native of Asokore in the Bekwai Municipal and a strong NPP member looks likely to pick up NPP nomination form to contest Joseph Osei-Owusu, MP for Asante Bekwai also First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
Meanwhile, he has pleaded with the constituents to rally behind him in his quest to aspire for the parliamentary seat in 2020 General Elections.
