The New Patriotic Party office at Asante Bekwai has been locked up. Aspirants dreams to pick up parliamentary nomination forms are completely in vain.
The office closure denied Lawyer Akwasi Amofa Agyeman yesterday, on his quest to pick a form to contest the Asante Bekwai seat occupied by Mr Osei Owusu [Joe Wise] the incumbent MP.
The aspirant infuriated supporters who accompanied him to the office in an interview criticized the party Chairman Mr Patrick Adu Gyamfi of condoning and conniving with the incumbent MP to prevent Lawyer Akwasi Amofa Agyeman from contesting Joe Wise [MP].
Meanwhile, supporters of the aspirant have settled a nomination fee of Ghc2,000.00 at the NPP national headquarters Accra.
They explained that, since the rules and regulations govern the NPP party gives each one mandate to contest every position, the office must open to all interested contestants.
The have described the incident as barbaric and bias. They believe it is an attempt by party executives in the Bekwai constituency to get the incumbent MP to go unopposed.
However, the supporters say they will storm the office premises daily until the Regional and National executives of the NPP intervene for necessary resolution.
