Senior Seismologist at the Ghana Geological Survey Department, Mr. Nicolas Opoku has said a strong earthquake looks likely to hit the nation in the years ahead.
He said the earth is building stretches and this looks likely to erupt and unbearable earthquake on the country.
Parts of Greater Accra and Central region experienced earth tremors at about 10 Pm Wednesday night living some residents in an absolute trauma.
The country experienced minor earthquakes in 1862, 1906 and 1939 respectively.
However the Senior Seismologist told Okay FM in Accra monitored by Newstimesghcom that “the minor occurrences are building stretches for a big earthquake to fall on Ghana”.
He has advised the nation to adhere to the 1939 earth recommendations.
He said the nation will have to understand our test curate hazard in order not to be at risk to the natural accident.
He said the nation should do vulnerability mappings to prevent the haphazard erection of buildings or houses around the area.
