Breaking: One Drowned at Esreso-Adagya

One person has been confirmed dead at Esreso-Adagya in the Bosomtwe district in the Ashanti Region after he was drowned in Ankonim stream, late hours of yesterday after a heavy down pour according to reports.

The Assembly Member for Esreso Adagya, Mr Emmanuel Adams told Newstimesgh.com that the deceased named Evans Owuraku Baah got drowned in the Ankonim Stream after it was said to have overflowed its banks on October 11, Friday night after a heavy down pour.

The flooded stream blocked the only access road to other communities.

Several people including the deceased on board a vehicle (trotro) to cross the flooded stream but it got stuck in the middle.

The passengers decided to escape for the fear of being drowned.

However, the deceased was unlucky to have landed deep in the stream where he got missing.

Divers could not search for him since it too dark in the night.
The body was retrieved in the early hours of today.

Meanwhile, Six people were drowned in the same Ankonim Stream at same place last year after a saloon car in which they were travelling was swept away by the flooded stream.

NADMO and some Kumasi city authorities visited the scene and it was revealed that bridge on the stream was weak and so needed to be maintained.

The officials promised to fix the wreck bridge.

Consequently, it remains the same, devastated and dangerous today.
