“Cash for vote is the root of poverty in Ghana”- Assembly Member

Dominic Senyo Yahesu Assembly member for Torgodo electoral area in the North Tongu district of the Volta region has stated that the vehement increase in economic hardship and poverty in the country is as a result of vote buying and selling (power buying)

He explained that politicians now buy votes as a medium of harvesting power and later failed to fulfill their promises made to the poor masses .

Mr Yahesu noted that the poor masses become poorer when leaders sit at the comfort of their zone just struggling for selfish interest.

He Writes:::

“Ghana has had a series of traditional elections in time since memorial from Presidential National, Constituency and district level elections, But the recent tendency before and during elections has become the affluent display of cash and the highest payer wins elections.

When this is realised unfortunate and incompetent candidates are elected to tactful position.

Almost all political leaders in Ghana are victims of this act termed “political coronavirus” that needs to be cured before it takes over our democracy.

Let’s desist from game of insults and taking money to vote instead of evaluating the candidates with their suggested policies and vote base on their level of competency to avert the collapse of our economic development..

Let’s supoort good leaders to accomplish their task professionally to promote development in their respective authorities”.
