Government officials at the disinfection exercise
Close to 300 Trading centres ( markets) inAshanti region went dead throughout the whole of yesterday, Friday 27th March 2020 consequent to a disinfection exercise carried out against the spread of coronavirus Almost every market within the 43 administrative districts in the region was disinfected against the spread of the plague.

Specifically in Kumasi, areas within and around the Kejetia lorry terminal, Adum, Central market, Alabar and Dr Mensah, Afia Kobi Market among others which are noted as the pivot for business activities in the Metropolis was closed down to have a share in the disinfection exercise.

It was earlier communicated to traders to forbid business and indeed they adhere to the city’s authorities.
The exercise saw a team of government officials including the Ashanti Regional Minister Mr Simon Osei Mensah, Mayor for Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, Deputy local Government Minister Mr Collins Ntim and the Director of Zoomlion Ghana Mr Kwasi Agyemang.

In line with the activity, more than one thousand workers from Zoomlion equipped with spraying machines in personnel were dispatched simultaneously to the various markets and terminals within the region.
Security personnel ( Soldiers) were also dispatched to the markets to ensure orderliness.
Markets shelves, stalls, roads within the Metropolis were all disinfected.

Addressing the media, Mayor for KMA Hon Osei Assibey thanked traders for the level of compliance they demonstrated towards the exercise.

He also lauded the media for the proper dissemination of information to the general public.
