The Mayor for Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr Osei Asibey Antwi has said, the government of Ghana alone can not build infrastructures for all schools in the country.
According to the government in all attempts is poised to facilitate the growth of the State’s schools in the country thus from lower to tertiary levels.
However, due to the schools larger number, the government is unable to provide adequate facilities to accelerate quality academic performance.
As a result there is the need for the general public, NGOs and all stakeholders to assist the nation by the construction of buildings and the provision of learning materials for schools.
The KMA boss made the pronouncement on Friday, April 30, 2021 during the “Commissioning of refurbished school block and landscaping” of Amankwatia M/A JHS ‘A’ at Amakom- Kumasi by Jackson College and the 1999 batch of the school.
He commended Jackson College and the 1999 Class (The Elite Class) for renovating the school.
The mayor, however asked past students of the various schools to also give to alma mater.
“Society has given to you so you must also give back to society,” Mr Osei Asibey Antwi entreated.
He revealed that the KMA has launched a tree planting campaign therefore is calling on all schools within the Kumasi Metropolis to participate in the exercise.
He declared that several trees are available so KMA is ready to give them out to schools for free of charge.
