MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Mr Alfred Amoah
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Mr Alfred Amoah hinted on government plans to establish an ultra-modern training centre in Bibiani Municipal for Persons (PWD’s) so as to equip them with a requisite training skills to help improve upon their standards of living.
He said government would continue to assist the vulnerable to create a level playing field to help lessen the economic burden of the PWDs through prudent policies and initiatives geared towards creating jobs and improving their livelihoods.
The new training centre would comprise offices and general conference hall for the various forms of disabilities including the visually and hearing impaired, physically challenged.
He stated at the maiden Meet the Press Series encounter at Bibiani which was organized by the Ministry of Information collaboration with Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development under auspices of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly in the Western North Region
The event offered him the opportunity to present all the government developmental projects, flagship programmes and interventions that have been undertaken in the Municipality over the last two and half years.
He mentioned for instance, government’s flagship programmes such as Nation Builder’s Corps (NABCO), restoration of nurses and teacher trainee allowances, planting for food and jobs, and Free SHS has enhanced access to education, reduced the high rate of unemployment ratio and poverty alleviation in the Municipality.
The MCE further explained that the beneficiary schools under the school Feeding Programme has increased from 65 schools in 2017 to 76 schools in 2018 representing 8.36%.
The number of pupils benefitting from the programme had also increased from 20,777 in 2017 to 21,786 (Males 1, 1194 and females 10592) in 2018.
These areas of education and agricultural sector were not left out, the Assembly also awarded scholarship packaged of GH 107,278.00 to 89 needy, but brilliant students in the Municipality.
Adding that, over (15000) cocoa seedlings were distributed to farmers for free under the planting for export and rural development so as to achieve the government vision of increasing cash crops export in Ghana.
On physical projects, he said Assembly has executed several projects including, construction of a three unit-classroom block at Sefwi Kunkumso, Boy’s dormitory, a six unit classroom block, construction of 12unit classroom block and 20-seater toilet facility at Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School (SEBESS), a six unit classroom block, 20-seater toilet facility with washroom, Girl’s Dormitory Block and Science Laboratory at Bibiani SHS and a six unit classroom block at Queen’s SHS at Sefwi Anhwiaso.
Others were, Construction of CHPS compound at Lineso, Bethlehem and Akaaso, supplied of medical equipment and an ultra-modern X-Mechaine to Bibiani Government, construction of 1No. Theatre Block at Bibiani Government, Construction of 1No. Mechanized Boreholes at Kwamekrom, Muano and Apenkrom, Construction of an ultra-modern market at Sefwi Anhwaiso.
On roads, he mentioned the ongoing construction of Subri Nkwanta – Etwebo, Tanoso – Chirano road, reshaping of Asawiaso – Merewa – Krodu, Adobewura-Alata- Kofikrom, Adupri-Bassengele.
The Western North Regional Minister, Mr. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu who chaired the functions in his key note address assured his constituents for more developmental projects before 2020.
He said, as part of government’s development plans for the municipality, there is going to be a Senior High School built at Sefwi Awaso and an extension of electricity supply in Nambro and Awaso Communities.
The Regional Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency promised government commitment to fix the Bibiani, Sefwi Anhwiaso, Awaso and Sefwi Bekwai town roads to attain facelift of the Municipality.
