Haruna Goes Independent to Contest Upper Denkyira West Parliamentary Seat

 

A new face has popped up in the Upper Denkyira West Constituency in the Central Region to contest for the parliamentary seat on December 7, 2020 Ghana’s general elections.

Mr. Haruna Nandam Mohammed is determined to join the race as independent candidate to battle Mr. Samuel Nsowah Djan, incumbent MP on the ticket of NPP and hitherto NDC candidate, on December 7, 2020.

The sovereign candidate (Haruna) is optimistic that he will surface as victor on December 7, 2020 polls despite NPP’s 100% dominance since the formation of the constituency in 2004.

Why going independent?

According to him both the NDC and the NPP over the years have displayed absolute incompetence, since 1996.

The Duopoly enjoyed by parties has not addressed the challenges of the people of Denkyira but have subjected them to abject poverty.

“These parties have ridden on lies to win the favors of the unsuspecting electorates. They have exploited them for their own selfish gains”, his statement.

According to him the NDC and NPP have lost ideas and have nothing better to offer people of Upper Denkyira West.

As a result, it is about time the Electorates voted for a candidate with a vibrant communication and lobbying skills in order to facilitate massive development such us access to primary healthcare, portable water, educational infrastructure and better road network in the constituency, and will assist the youth to get jobs.

“Our MPs over the years have failed to be good agents of these peering issues, they have actually ignored the opportunities to lobby for these developments. Their voices have been lost completely in our political space”, he told Newstimesgh.com in an interview.

He is a nurse with 7 years working experience.
He is currently a student of public health at Korlebu Public Health Nursing School.
