The Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi, Mr Osei Asibey Antwi has said in a press statement that rumours regarding the closure of trading in the metropolis are uncouth.

It has come to the notice of the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, that, several WhatsApp platforms have been awashed with a tall list of sellected markets in the city to be closed by Monday, 23rd March, 2020.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is scheduled to present Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Veronica buckets, Alcohol-based sanitizer, Spraying machines and chemicals to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) on Monday, 23rd March, 2020 at 9:00 am for onward distribution to the various MMDAs in the region to fight the spread of covid-19.
In the meantime, let us strictly adhere to all the personal hygiene protocols as espoused by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and dutifully reiterated by H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, as we collectively confront head-on, the infamous coronavirius outbreak.
Let us endeavour to spread calm and not fear, this one too, will pass.
