The Mayor for Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi has sworn-in 270 Ashanti Regional Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) Ashanti Regional National Trainers.
Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi, led the participants to take the Oath of Secrecy on Sunday, 11th April 2021 at various training centers in the Kumasi Metropolis as part of activities for the final training session (face – to – face) of the National Trainers.
The purpose of taking the Oath of Secrecy is to ensure confidentiality of data that would be collected during the PHC.
In an interview with Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi, he told the NewstimesGh.com that, the 2021 PHC is very crucial since the information gathered on the population such as age, sex, economic activities, housing conditions, sanitation among others will help government in effective planning and the equitable distribution of the country’s resources.
In addition, he stated that, it is also important to identify the number of people in a precise locality to help government undertake specific developmental projects such as schools, hospitals and other social amenities for the people.
The Mayor finally urged the trainers not to undermine the exercise but deem it as very important since the success of the 2021 PHC largely depends on them.
He again added that, the participants should cease the opportunity to learn new things to better their lives.
