KMA Boss Mr Osei Asibey Antwi
The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr Osei Asibey Anatwi has said the city is ever prepared to host the 63rd independence day celebration on Friday, march 6 2020.
The country’s Independence Day celebration over a longer period of time has been commemorated in Accra, the capital city.
But the New Patriotic Party (NPP) policy of rotating the annual Independence Day parade across the various regions proceeds this year as it shifts to Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.
It was celebrated in Tamale, the Northern Regional Capital last year. And this is the first time Kumasi City is going to host such a great event.
The event will come off Friday, March 6 2020on the theme: “consolidating our gains”.
Commenting on the celebration, the KMA boss expressed much gratitude to President Nana Addo for selecting Kumasi city to host 63rd Independence Day. He affirmed that the city is adequately prepared in terms of security, health, accommodation among others.
“We are very ready for the event, in terms of security everything is ready, and our men (security personnel) are ready. In terms of health we are adequately prepared, in terms of our hospitality in industries; any hotel that you enter you will see for yourself that they are ready to receive a guest. The whole city, the people in the city are ready for the event”, he stated.
Many people in Kumasi and Ghana as a whole have expressed deep concerns over the fear of being attacked by the deadly disease (coronavirus) which has been rumored to have entered in Kumasi at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in about 3 days ago.
However, Mr Asibey Antwi has debunked those claims stating,” there’s no coronavirus in Kumasi and Ghana as a whole.
The city Mayor however entreated the people of Kumasi to come to the Kumasi Babayara stadium (venue for the event) in their numbers to watch and support the nation “as we celebrate our 63rdIndependence”.
