A huge number of Assembly members who are also known in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are also championing to retain the mandate of the MP because of his lobbying skills which has led to unprecedented road improvement in the area among other achievements.
Ahead of the Party’s Parliamentary primaries this is how one of the many delegates in support of the MP chronicled it;
OSEI TUTU, A POLLING STATION SECRETARY FROM BUOKROM PROPER ELECTORAL AREA WRITES…
I was told many evil things about Him. I trusted them at that time, until I tried to find things for myself. I and my colleagues were warned not to attend meetings or go near where the honourable Member of Parliament was.
Even they went further threatening to expel or suspend us from the party.
That angered me and I said I will attend meetings since it wasn’t an offence in any way and also the party doesn’t belong to any individual. Upon becoming member no one wrote an application letter before being admitted. Provided I don’t go contrary to the rules and regulations of the party anyone can expel or suspend me.
Going to meetings upon meetings with the incumbent Member of Parliament, we got to know him better. Seeing most of the things we were told about him weren’t true. I used most and not all because no one will sit down with a stick and allowed a dog to bite him. In my wisdom I found that most of the cases that happened was a defensive one ,on the side of the MP. They start the troubles and pretend to be innocent.
Getting closer to the MP, we saw that he was a peaceful, God fearing, law abiding, generous, intelligent, truthful honest and very very BRAVE. On several occasions I have seen him giving money to the same people who doesn’t speak well of him. We should compare the actions and inaction of both and judge for ourselves.
It’s a blessing to have the incumbent Honourable Member of Parliament Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah as Our MP for MANHYIA NORTH CONSTITUENCY. Long Live Hon. and all delegates of MANHYIA NORTH CONSTITUENCY and all the people within”.
