Railway Dev’t CEO Richard Dombo dead

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA), Mr. Richard Dombo, has died.

He passed away on Wednesday, 17 February 2021.

Sources say he was battling with COVID-19 complications before succumbing.

A son of the late Chief Simon Diedong Dombo, one of the founders of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, the GRDA CEO was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2017.

He had served as the operations manager for Southwest Rail, one of the largest rail operators in the UK, before his appointment as GRDA CEO.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s national COVID-19 death toll is now 565.

Some 523 new cases have also been confirmed, according to the Ghana Health Service.

The number of active cases has increased slightly to 7,931.

Since mid-March 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 78,271 with 69,775 recoveries.
