The Kwaso based Rural Development College(RUDECO) in the Ejisu Municipal of the Ashanti Region by September this year will begin to enrol students into degree and Sandwich programs.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2014 between the Education Ministry and the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) in Accra.
But the question is; where are the facilities to accommodate the students?
The school, under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development it has been faced with numerous infrastructural challenges since its establishment in 1949.
However, the school lacks adequate facilities to run the programs.
The school’s hostel facilities and Lecturers bungalows are weak and cramped to accommodate learners.
“Each room contains 8 students but under normal circumstance we are supposed to be 4 in a room”.
The rooms are poky, we are suffering a lot”. A student told Newstimesgh.com
RUDECO’s outmoded toilet facilities are none functional and needs to be replaced with an ultramodern toilet facility.
The Principal, Mr Solomon Mensah in an interview during the 10th Graduation ceremony for Sandwich Students said, “one complex block will be enough for the commencement of the new programs”.
RUDECO’s campus has become a habitation for snakes and other harmful animals the students said.
The lives of learners are in danger since there is no fence wall and proper security apparatus as criminals and intruders penetrate the schools campus comfortably with no queries.
Principal Request for Assistance
The school’s authority (principal) said private institutions, government, NGO’s business men and all stakeholders must endeavour on all fronts to assist in the immense development of the school.
