Nana Addo and NAM 1 in a handshake
Customers of the defunct financial firm Menzgold who call themselves Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold (CACM) have made allegations that the firm belongs to NPP government.
The customers raised this allegation today due to NPP government’s inability to retrieve and pay out their locked deposits in the collapsed Menzgold firm.
They are dragging government’s feet for the delay of a trial of 61 criminal charges court slapped on Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold Nana Appiah Mensah also known as NAM 1.
The irate customers of Menzgold suggest that government’s “lackadaisical attitude and Luke- warmness in prosecuting NAM 1 for not helping customers to get back their monies and it is a clear indication that the CEO of the financial institution is being supported by the state “and that indeed Menzgold is owned by NPP government”.
“The happening in the court and more especially the attitude of government clearly shows that the government is not interested in prosecuting NAM 1”, Infuriated customers told the media at presser in Kumasi July 7, 2020.
“One can cite current examples where Nam 1 having 61 charges slapped on him was allowed and provided with state security in blatant disregard for our laws to sign on new Artistes and being guarded by national security operatives and macho men.”, Spokesperson of the customers, Baffour Amankwah fumed.
He further recalled to the event of Payboy Company which he claims is owned by the same NAM 1, an institution founded by EOCO as another scam.
He said, currently there is another company Metallica Refinery situated on the same premises of Menzgold in East legon -Accra believed to be associated with NAM 1.
He alleged again that Ivex and Gold FM are all assets government has allowed NAM 1 to open and operating.
The aggrieved customers have however, challenged government to pay them from the consolidated fund before the end of October 2020 and as well capture the payment of their monies in the 2020 mid-year budget for payment before October 31.
They are again calling on government to properly confiscate and sell all assets of Nam 1, sell it and return the proceed to the state coffers.
They said their families and friends will all register in the ongoing Voter’s registration exercise and make sure they vote against NPP government if Nana Addo does not refund their locked up deposits within the specified time.
