Many people in Ghana have raised a lot of concerns about how politicians are intimidating and interfering Electoral Commission of Ghana’s work when Madam Jean Mensah announced that a new voters register is going to be compiled this year.
The major opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have made their stands clear that, the move is a calculated attempt by government in power, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and EC to rig the 2020 elections.
For this reason the NDC have staged various demonstrations in protest against EC’s quest to compiling a new voters register.
However, the immediate past assembly member for Ejisu Besease-Jamase electoral area, Mr Samuel Danquah known popularly as Hon. SS has said the NDC is frustrated over their impending defeat come December in the 2020 Ghana’s general elections hence the parading of unnecessary demonstrations.
The NDC have said they are going to oppose the EC’s until it rescind it decision. Behold, they are prepared to hit the streets of Kumasi on Tuesday January 21, 2020 with a massive demonstration against EC.
But Hon SS says, “NDC should back off, stop the needless ranting of demonstrations and allow EC to effectively work”.
He told Newstimesgh.com that, no matter how many protest the NDC may execute, EC should be firm and move on with its decision to change the old voters register.
He added that, the NDC is wasting time and money on their protest because no matter what they do, defeat awaits them in December.
