Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum- Minister of Educationducation
Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Ministry of Education, Akwasi Kwarteng has said, the ministry is ready to pay all teacher trainees allowances by September this year.
His comment is in relation to teacher trainees backlash on government in recent weeks over the nonpayment of their six months allowances.
These allowances have been in arrears since March 2021, a situation that is putting teacher trainees under severe discomfort and hardship.
Speaking on Nhyira Fm morning show, chaired by Nana Kwadwo Gyantua on Thursday, monitored by Newstimesgh.com reporter Joseph Marfo, the PRO disclosed that all allowances the government of Ghana owes the teacher trainees will fully be paid by September this year, therefore trainees should be calm and patient.
“It’s clear that government of Ghana owes the trainees however, all allowances or backlogs would fully be paid by September.”
He declared that, with regards to the trainees demand on feeding grants, the education ministry will have a second look at it before any payment is effected since trainees were not in school for a couple of months.
