Western North NPP vetting: two faces pop up to contest Bibiani MP

The Western North Regional branch of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP) which forms among the six (6) newly created regions countrywide bearing a year ago was not exempted from the just ended NPP vetting to gives aspirants the constitutional mandate to contest for the parliamentary seats in their respective constituencies to elect as Parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2020 general election across the country where they have an incumbent Members of Parliament.

The three (3) constituencies where there is a sitting Members of parliament were Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Sefwi Wiawso and Akontombra constituencies respectively.

The vetting was organised and monitored by some party Executives from the various constituencies and was also conducted by Regional and National Executives of the party led by Mr. Frederick Fredua Antoh, popularly called FF Antoh the First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic party (NPP) and a host of others (NPP) stalwarts so as to ensure free and fair vetting process.

In Bibiani-Anhwaiso-Bekwai Constituency, two aspirants have passed through a successful vetting process to contest the incumbent MP who doubles as the Western North Regional Minister Mr.Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu.

The aspirants were the Former Managing Director (MD) of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) and also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Approachers Group of Companies Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng as well the First District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bibiani-Anhwaiso-Bekwai between the period of 2001 to 2004 and former Member of Parliament for the Constituency during Kuffour’s administration, Mr. Christopher Addai.
Hundreds of delegates and party supporters stormed the venue at the pastorial center at Sefwi Wiawso, the regional capital in their preferred aspirants customized T-shirt to gives more moral with numerous ‘gyama’ songs.
After the vetting, balloting was made as Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng took the first (No1) spot on the ballot sheet, the former DCE and former lawmaker Mr. Christopher Addai placed second (No2) whiles the incumbent legislature, Mr. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu positioned third on the ballot sheet.

On his part, the Regional Chairman Mr. Williams Benjamin Assuah thanked the Chairman Mr. FF Antoh and the vetting committee members for a smooth and peaceful vetting.

He cautioned all the aspirants to desist from politics results as they are going to embark on massive campaign strategies towards the parliamentary primaries scheduled for April 25, 2020 elect parliamentary candidates for the 2020 general elections.

Chairman however, vowed to win their seats to unseat the NDC candidates come 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential elections in the Region in order to keep NPP in power.
