KMA Boss- Mr Osei Asibey Antwi
The Kumasi Racecourse Traders have blamed Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Metro for the rise in Covid-19 cases in the Greater Kumasi city.
The traders claim the overcrowded Kumasi Central Market has led to the widespread of the pandemic Covid-19.
According to them Kumasi Mayor Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi is tantamount to a blame for the widespread of the plague since he has not stand firm on his decision to relocate most of the sellers at central market to the empty Racecourse market thereby increasingly creating congestion and this is hindrance Covid-19 to a social distancing protocol.
Ashanti Region has recorded 5,259 cases of Covid-19, with 4786 recoveries and 58 deaths, (Region with high rate of deaths in Ghana, thus 42% of 139 total deaths recorded).
For this reason the Racecourse Traders believe that if the vacant Racecourse market had been properly organized by the KMA boss and moved in traders to occupy empty sheds, the business center would have been attractive, pressure and overcrowding at Central Market and Dr. Mensah would have been minimized hence the lesser spread of the plague.
